Day trip from Punta Arenas to King Penguin Nature Reserve on Tierra del Fuego, with ferry crossings, ranch history, and a 15 m seaside view.

“We loved our tour! It was amazing seeing the landscape and animals in the Patagonia on the drive. It is a long drive to get there, but it’s well worth it and the driver/guide made it fun! And the ferry breaks it up and it was a good experience. Penguins we’re a highlight! The park is amazing and the workers are so passionate and do incredible work. Stopped at a great place for lunch on the way back which was reasonably priced. Plenty of stops to stretch legs, see some of the oldest ranches in the region, and go to the bathroomz”

Punta Arenas: King Penguin Park and Tierra del Fuego Trip

3.King Penguin Park and Tierra del Fuego Trip

★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 67 reviews · 14 hours · from $180

Full-day Punta Arenas trip to Tierra del Fuego, with Magellan Strait ferry, Porvenir square, San Gregorio Estancia, and king penguins.

“Honestly, the reviews of this trip do not do it justice. Of course this is a long day, penguins live in the wilderness, and therefore it takes time to get to their natural habit - it's a privilege to visit and there is a reason why we're seeing them here and not in a zoo! Atma and Hernandez were amazing with communicating the realities of the landscape and wind on Tierra del Fuego and how that might impact the timings of our trip, however everything went very smoothly. The ferry on the way there is two hours but it's comfortable and you can buy snacks and coffee, and the mini-bus…”

“Fantastic full day adventure driving all over the Chilean side of Tierra del Fuego - 7:30AM to 10:30PM. Two ferry rides, many stops at historical places and viewpoints. Atma was a fun and informative guide. Saw all kinds of guancos, rheas, birds and of course, the King Penguin Reserve - AMAZING! Stopped for a huge sheep herd. Highly recommend!”

4 days from Punta Arenas to Torres del Paine and Tierra del Fuego, with king penguins, ferry rides, and small-group comfort.

“If you have limited time in Punta Arenas, this is the perfect experience. It allows you to cover as much ground as possible. The dates for both trips changed last minute but we were flexible enough as we were in the area for longer. We were still able to avail of the airport transfer. The guides on both tours spoke Spanish and English. The accommodation in Patagonia B&B was basic but sufficient. People were friendly (spoke very little English) and the breakfast was good. Torres del Paine: A very long drive but wonderful views. We were not aware that the entrance fee to the national park needed to be paid…”
